July 9, 2013 - Howling For Wolves
Today, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released results from the 2012-13 count of the state’s wolf population that shows the population has declined 25% since the last comprehensive count performed in 2007-08. There are now estimated to be 2,211 wolves in Minnesota, based on an estimated population range of 1,652-2,641. Previous counts performed between 1997 and 2007 showed that the wolf population had been stable and not expanding without recreational wolf hunting and trapping.
May 28, 2013 - Howling For Wolves
The Minnesota Court of Appeals today dismissed the petition challenging wolf hunting and trapping on the basis of standing, not on the basis of the merits of the case. The Court found that the petitioners (Center for Biological Diversity, Howling For Wolves) did not adequately persuade the Court that sufficient standing was held to challenge the rulemaking process implemented by the MN DNR for the inaugural wolf hunting and trapping season.
May 8, 2013 - Howling For Wolves
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (May 8, 2013) – A recent awareness campaign across Minnesota radio stations has urged voters and lawmakers to act now to end inhumane methods used for recreational wolf hunting. An amendment is expected to be offered before the end of the session in the Minnesota Senate to eliminate trapping, snaring, and baiting from any future wolf hunts.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (March 14, 2013) – Today, the Minnesota Senate Environment and Energy Policy committee approved S.F. 666, a bill that would reinstate a five-year wait on recreational wolf hunting and trapping. The bill has been referred to the Environment, Economic Development and Agriculture Division.
