DNR on Wolf Season: “We’re going to find out.”

MN DNR takes a shot in the dark at the wolf: "We're going to find out."  Read the full article here. Again and again, we continue to hear the DNR admit they just don't know what will unfold with this first ever public MN wolf hunt. For example:

"We've always considered this inaugural year as experimental." Dennis Simon, DNR spokesperson.

"We don't know what kind of success rates we'll see." Ed Boggess, DNR fish & wildlife director.

"This is a new endeavor." Dan Stark, DNR large carnivore specialist.

After almost 40 years and millions of dollars, the DNR risks the wolf's recovery with a "we're going to find out?" The reason for the 5 yr wait following delisting was the need to gather sorely needed data from which to make wise decisions. Clearly the DNR lacks the data needed and is charging ahead. Tell them to STOP THE HUNT!
